Your privacy, considered
Effective October 16, 2026. This Privacy Policy applies to the Brisket editorial website and its mindful tools at brisket.wiki (the “Service”), provided by the operator of Brisket (“we,” “us,” or “our”). It explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Applicable data protection laws
We aim to handle personal information in line with major data protection frameworks, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Brazil’s Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), and — because our Terms of Service are governed by Chinese law — the Personal Information Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China (PIPL). Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights: to access, correct, or delete your personal information; to restrict or object to certain processing; to data portability; to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (for example, an EU data protection authority or Brazil’s ANPD). Section 11 explains how to exercise these rights. Nothing in this policy limits rights that applicable law grants you.
2. Information we collect
Information you voluntarily provide. You can read the journal and use every mindful tool without an account. Our contact form deliberately prepares a copyable draft on your own device — it does not transmit, register, or store your message. If you later choose to send that draft (or anything else) to us through your own email, we receive the name, email address, and message content you include.
Information collected automatically. Our hosting provider processes standard technical request data — such as IP address, device and browser type, pages visited, request times, and error logs — to deliver and secure the website. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the technical information necessary to respond to each font request.
What we do not collect. Breathing patterns, timer choices, mood selections, gratitude notes, worries you “release,” and ritual preferences are processed only inside your current browser session and disappear when you leave. We do not store them, build profiles from them, or link them to any identity.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above to: (a) provide, maintain, and improve the Service (legal basis: legitimate interest in operating a useful, secure website); (b) respond to messages you choose to send us (legitimate interest, or consent where required); (c) ensure security and prevent abuse (legitimate interest); and (d) comply with legal obligations (legal obligation). We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
The editorial pages and tools do not intentionally set advertising cookies, and tool selections are not written to local storage. Hosting or security services may use strictly necessary operational mechanisms to deliver the site. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time; the Service will still be readable without optional cookies. If we introduce analytics, accounts, or optional cookies in the future, this policy will be updated before they begin collecting information.
5. Advertising and your opt-out choices
We do not currently serve personalized advertising on the Service. If personalized ads are introduced in the future — for example through Google’s advertising services — Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalized advertising at any time, today and in the future, through Google’s own controls: Google My Ad Center — turn off ad personalization. To understand how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services, see How Google uses information from partner sites & apps. You can also use your browser’s cookie controls or an industry opt-out tool of your choice.
6. How we share information
We share personal information only in limited circumstances: (a) with service providers who help us operate the Service — such as our hosting provider and Google Fonts — each of which processes data only as needed to provide its service; (b) when required by law, regulation, or valid legal process, or to protect our rights, visitors, or the public; (c) in connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of the website, subject to this policy; and (d) otherwise with your consent.
7. Retention and security
Server logs are retained according to our hosting provider’s standard schedules, which we do not fully control. Messages you send us are kept only as long as needed to respond and maintain reasonable records, then deleted. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, use, or disclosure — but no internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. International processing
The Service is delivered through infrastructure and service providers that may process information in countries other than your own. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers. By using the Service, you understand that technical data necessary to deliver the website may be processed internationally.
9. Children’s privacy
The Service is intended for general educational reading and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. Adults should supervise children’s outdoor activities and online sharing.
10. Third-party links
The Service may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and their own policies apply when you visit them. Our articles identify placeholder source references rather than encouraging you to treat them as verified studies.
11. Your choices and exercising your rights
To access, correct, delete, or ask questions about personal information you have shared with us — or to exercise any GDPR, LGPD, or PIPL right — prepare a message through the contact page and send it to us from your own email so we can verify and respond. You can manage cookies through your browser settings, and you can disable personalized advertising through the Google links in Section 5 at any time.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date, and material changes will be highlighted where reasonable. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
13. Contact us
Questions about this Privacy Policy are always welcome. Reach us through the contact page at brisket.wiki — we read every message, slowly and with care.
